House of Crafts - Live Summer Wreath

LIVE SUMMER WREATH

Nothing looks prettier than this colorful live wreath hanging in a tree!  I make one every year!

You need:
  • A wire wreath
  • Angel moss... or you can save yourself some time and buy the angel moss wire wreath already put together at Petitti's
  • potting soil
  • various annuals... impatiens, marigolds, lobelia, etc.
  • Annual grasses

Start by wetting down the angel moss in a bucket of water or with the hose, so it's moist and easy to work with.  Line a layer of angel moss in the wire wreath.  If you're using the angel moss wire wreath that's already put together, just shower it with the hose.  Add your soil.  Turn the wreath over and begin planting your annuals around the wreath until you like it!  Leave some space in between the plants for spreading.  I like using impatiens because they spread so easily and come in such bright colors.  You may see some wire showing through now, but will be full in no time!  Remember to leave your wreath laying flat on the ground overnight after making it to give your plants a chance to settle.  Hang it on your favorite tree and make sure you water it regularly because it will dry out quicker than your flowers in a pot!
